Description:
The Challenge
Perseid School supports young people with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism and sensory or physical needs. Our long-standing collaboration with the school focuses on creating outdoor spaces that enhance learning and wellbeing. For this project, the brief required a compact, multifunctional area near the main entrance and sports facilities. The space needed to be fully accessible, provide sensory and therapeutic value, and remain cost-effective while meeting safety requirements.
The Design Solution
The design establishes a flexible green space that accommodates group activities, informal gatherings, and quiet use. A vertical timber screen along the northern boundary provides privacy and enclosure, while a simple timber shelter enables year-round outdoor use without the cost of a prefabricated classroom.
This robust, economical solution delivers a calm and functional environment tailored to the school’s educational, therapeutic, and accessibility needs.
